Nutrition: Alfalfa Hay
Alfalfa is rich in protein and digestible energy (DE). It supplies all of the nutrients and energy that active, nursing, or growing horses require. However, adult horses with lesser protein requirements may not require plain Alfalfa hay due to its high protein concentration. Grass hay or alfalfa mix hay of grass hay and alfalfa may provide adequate nutritional value for your horse. If your horse tends to gain weight, you must limit the amount of Alfalfa in their meal. This is simply accomplished by supplementing their food with grass hay. Second, this will provide much-needed fiber to your animals’ diets, thereby preventing impaction.
